AI evidence analysis that shows what it read

LIA (Legal Intel AI) is a reasoning desk for litigation, forensic, medico-legal and wrongful-justice files. You put the brief on the desk and ask what it will bear. LIA reads the file, keeps evidence, inference and gap on different lines, and leaves a record you can check.

What "AI evidence analysis" should mean

Most AI tools will summarise a brief of evidence. Fewer will tell you which files they actually searched, which parts of the answer are inference, or what the file does not contain. For legal work, those are the questions that matter, because they are the ones a court will ask.

LIA is built so the answer is on the record:

  • A search that shows what it read. On a Matter with three or more documents, or a long extract, tick Split a large search on Review. The files are searched one at a time, and the desk shows each one as found or not found, with a short quote. Those quotes go to the working. A single Review can clip and miss a later page; the split shows what was read.
  • Working you can open. Show working sets out the reconstruction, the counter-reading and what the conclusion depends on.
  • Two workings, settled. Deep Review runs two workings and records what they agree on, what they contest and what is still open.
  • A record, not a chat log. You can export the classification, the working and the caution, and take it to counsel.

Evidence, inference, gap

Every working is classified on three lines.

Evidence

What the record establishes. "Brief of evidence, 412 pages, classified primary."

Inference

What may reasonably be drawn from it, named as inference. "Identity at 02:14 is inferred from clothing, not a face."

Gap

What the record does not establish, or what material is absent. "CCTV between 01:52 and 02:06 is not on this file."

Sometimes the important answer is that the record does not establish the proposition. LIA will say so.

Who uses it

Counsel running a matter

Ask what the brief will actually bear, not what the preferred theory needs it to bear. Show working opens the reconstruction, the counter-reading and what the conclusion depends on.

Forensic and medico-legal work

Reports, imaging, pathology, scene. Presence is not identity. A finding is not a cause. The classification stays visible.

Wrongful-justice review

Where a case has already gone wrong: find the overclaim, the missing hour, the inference dressed as fact.

How a matter works

  1. Open a matter. A conversation is for testing an idea. A matter is for building a file.
  2. Put the record down. Upload, or pull from Google Drive or Dropbox. Files on a matter stay on that matter.
  3. Ask, Review or Deep Review. Ask is one pass. Review reads the file. Deep Review runs two independent workings and settles them: agree, contest, or gap.
  4. Read the record. Export the classification, the working and the caution. You still decide.

What LIA is not

Not a law firm. Not legal advice. Not a substitute for reading the judgment before you cite it. LIA does not claim SOC 2, ISO or HIPAA certification, and it does not sell your files.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI analyse a brief of evidence? Yes, if it shows what it read and keeps inference apart from evidence. On a large Matter, LIA's Split a large search goes through the files one at a time and lists each as found or not found with a short quote, and every working is classified as evidence, inference or gap.

Does LIA hallucinate case law? Any system that generates text can produce an error. LIA is built so the basis of each conclusion shows: evidence, inference and gap are kept apart, and Show working sets out what the conclusion depends on. It is not a substitute for reading the judgment before you cite it. Open every authority before you file.

Where do the files come from? Upload them, or pull them from Google Drive or Dropbox. Files on a matter stay on that matter.

Can I rely on LIA's output in court? No tool replaces your duty to the court. LIA gives you an exportable record of the classification, the working and the caution, so you can check it before relying on it. Human judgment remains the authority.

Is LIA built for Australian practice? LIA is built in Sydney, and its examples and language come from Australian litigation practice. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
